HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN CHRISTMAS CENTER PIECES
These are Some of The Tools I Use
This is a craft I learned from my mom. If You are interested in making Your own Here is what you will need:
Christmas Greens - In these arrangements I used Blue Spruce, but you can use, Cedar, Pine, or any other Christmas Green Boughs. I go into the forests to get them.
Snips - The boughs will snap off the tree in the cold, and you can use the snips to cut them to the size you want.
Containers - You can use baskets, and use margarine containers for the water and sponges, or you can use ceramic or wood containers, whatever suits your arrangement.
Sponges - For live greenery, you will need Wet Florist Sponges, not dry. You cut the sponge to fit into your waterproof container, and let it really soak up the water before you start.
Decorations - You will need some decorations like little Christmas Ornaments, Pine Cones, Gold Berries, Red Berries, and Gold and/or Silver highlighting touches to make it sparkle.
Flowers - You will need some Seasonal 'Silk' Flowers, like Poinsettias, Magnolias, Amaryllis, or whatever flowers you consider will suit the arrangement. The flowers are not real silk and are quite affordable. Look in the department and dollar stores for the flowers and berries, and decorations.
Twine - green plastic covered twine is best, you can use garbage bag twists, or florist twine.
Glue Gun and Glue Sticks - for gluing in the pine cones, berries etc. so your arrangement is solid. The greenery does not get wrecked and will hold the glue if you "glob it on right" lol - you will have to experiment on how to do this for your arrangement.
Costs: The arrangements cost about 70% less than at the Florist.
Putting Your Arrangements Together
I like to put the Greenery in first. You have to make sure that the sponge is soaked first or it will break up when you push the stems into it.
I like to put the Flowers in next, and then the ornament, and then the berries.
The arrangement kinda builds itself as you go along...... Have Fun trying this.
